November 19-25, 2023

  • Swag
    • Meeting cancelled due to pending procurement
    • Spoke briefly with design, design team member was ill and put a brief pause on stickers for now until they recover
  • Engagement
    • Held CSC Circles Movie Night
      • Lecture hall didn't have the best audio, but was able to make do
  • Orgcom social: TBD

November 12-18, 2023

  • Swag
    • Desired t-shirt colour unavailable in the material we wanted
      • Originally wanted navy softstyle t-shirt, but unavailable in small size
      • Quickly made a strawpoll on the CSC Discord server, people opted for black softstyle instead
    • Ordered swag, got proof and confirmed order
    • Estimated to arrive before the end of the month
    • Ordered:
      • 13 small t-shirts
      • 32 medium t-shirts
      • 30 large t-shirts
      • 10 extra large t-shirts
      • 65 beanies
    • Was able to squeeze it all under the $2000 budget limit
  • Engagement
    • Posted announcements of CSC Circles movie night on socials + sent emails to all the circles
    • Finalized pizza order for the event, approximately 13 pizzas for the whole event
    • Orgcom social vote concluded, people wanted dinner
      • Got a reservation and confirmed right time and date to ensure nothing messes up this time

November 5-11, 2023

  • Swag
    • Got revised swag design, needed to remove shading and adjust the colours so it would print properly with our manufacturer
    • Made vote on colour palette selection + t-shirt background colour, consensus was baby pink on navy blue t-shirt
    • Planned on quantity of beanies and t-shirts to distribute
      • Approximately 80 t-shirts + 60 beanies, worked on fine tuning the individual quantity of sizes based off previous swag data
    • Looked at sticker manufacturers due to controversy with previous manufacturers
      • Referred to S23 MathSoc President document for recommended companies to procure from
  • Engagement
    • Booked lecture hall for CSC Circles movie night, got DC1350
    • Got $120 to spend on pizza
    • Planned on watching The Theory of Everything, on the life of Stephen Hawking
    • Axed the CP competition due to uncertainty of having problems ready before the end of the term

October 29, 2023 - November 4, 2023

  • Swag
    • Cancelled meeting due to pending designs, not much to discuss
    • Held vote on swag designs, people wanted Codey recursively dreaming with the y-combinator wrapped around them
  • Engagement
    • CSC Circles
      • Thought of having a movie night as our next event
      • Planned on serving pizza
      • Needed to inquire about authorized movies to screen due to IST/WUSA restrictions
    • CP Competition
      • Planned on hosting on the contest on the DMOJ platform
      • Reached out to problem setters to see progress, only 1 or 2 problems finished, might not be possible to hold competition this term

October 22-28, 2023

  • Swag
    • Spoke with design team to include the y combinator on the design
    • Got design team to make a few drafts, fine tuning current designs
  • Engagement
    • Began more brainstorming on the CP competition
      • In communication with problem-setters on creating approximately 6-7 questions at wide ranging difficulty
      • Got 1 or 2 questions done
      • Discussed whether it was feasible to do a competition this term, pondered postponing the competition to next term
    • CSC Circles
      • Added late sign ups

October 15-21, 2023

  • Swag
    • Announcement of previous term's crewnecks were sent out on all socials
    • First draft of sticker + t-shirt design released by Design Team, discussed options and selected a design to go on the t-shirt
    • Researching more manufacturers, trying to find the best cost + quality of t-shirt with printing
      • More colours => More Money
      • Worked with design to find the most optimal number of colours for the design
  • Engagement
    • Held CSC Circles Kickoff event
  • CSC x CS Advising Office meeting
    • Spoke with advisors from the School of Computer Science
    • Wanted to foster a sense of community within CS and wanted to improve relations + support with the CS Advising Office
    • Spoke about stickers that the School of CS distributes, wanted us to help distribute them (currently already do through the Class Profile, but willing to help drive more awareness of the CS Advising Office)
    • Discussed Class Profile, how it helped inform administration about students' thoughts and opinions
    • Added CS Advising Office announcements on the CSC Discord server
      • Thought of adding advisors onto the server, though further discussion shot this down
  • Orgcom Social
    • Didn't go as expected, dinner reservation was placed on the wrong date by the restaurant
    • Still was able to get takeoff and meet up in a classroom, had fun and chatted with the whole team

October 8-14, 2023

  • Swag meeting cancelled due to Thanksgiving
  • Egagement
    • CSC Circles
      • Able to procure 30 small gourds for $1 from a local farm
      • Needed paint brushes as current CSC supply was lacklustre
      • Enough paint in the office
      • Planned on getting candy from Dollarama
      • Began creating slides for the kickoff event

October 1-7, 2023

  • Swag
    • Budget was fully approved for $2000 worth of swag
    • Beanie/Toque design was an inversion of previous year's beanies/toques
      • Navy blue beanie/toque with a white CSC logo
    • Began working with the design team on the recursive Codey design
    • Research manufacturers for swag
  • Engagement
    • Budget was fully approved
    • Planned potential prizes for the CP competition
      • Thought of giving swag only, such as tote bag + pin + water bottle + t-shirt + hat + stickers
    • Began planning Circles kickoff for Friday after reading week
      • For Halloween spirit, made event have small Halloween snacks + pumpkin painting
      • Needed to procure mini pumpkins + art supplies
    • Reached out to potential problemsetters for the CP competition, holding off on any final decisions as creating questions will take a while
    • Orgcom voted on having a dinner, needed to vote on a restaurant, a date, and getting a reservation for the restaurant
    • Previous term's whiteboard reel posted, used computer vision to automate the process
  • General reps meeting cancelled due to Thanksgiving Weekend

September 24-30, 2023

  • Swag
    • Began thinking of designs for the beanies/toques and t-shirts
    • T-shirts needed a reference to lambda calculus, y-combinator, and recursion
      • Codey recursively dreaming?
    • Proposed a budget of 50 beanies/toques + 65 t-shirts at $2000, pending approval
    • Thinking of sticker designs for recruitment as well
      • Suggestions were Codey + Goose, as those are two popular figures within CSC
    • Began creating marketing to advertise previous swag, as it was missed last term
  • Engagement
    • Began preparing for Circles kickoff, what activities wanted, where, budget, etc.
    • Began asking around for people to help with the CP competition, overall budget, etc.
    • Planned general CSC internal committee (Orgcom) social
      • Brainstormed having: dinner, karaoke, board games, and a games night

September 17-23, 2023

  • Swag
    • Began settling on swag items for the term
      • T-Shirts + Hat item
    • Created community poll on CSC Discord, majority wanted the lambda calculus t-shirt back + a beanie/toque
  • Engagement
    • Began thinking of a budget and overall idea of CSC Circles + CP Competition, what resources were needed, etc.
  • General reps meeting + social, did karaoke and had fun

September 10-16, 2023

  • Began planning swag to be released this term
    • Heard feedback about bringing back the former lambda calculus t-shirt
    • T-shirts, sweaters, hoodies, crewnecks, etc. generally a safer option
    • Toques/beanies, mittens/gloves were suggested although that's a bit more risky as opposed to the options listed above
    • Creating general plan for swag for this term, while trying to push for last term's swag to be sold as they arrived later than expected
  • Brainstorming long term engagement initiatives for the CS community
    • CSC Circles went on hiatus for the S23 term, thought of bringing it back, especially as there are many new faces in the F23 term
    • Thoughts on holding a competitive programming contest as that has been suggested by the broader community
    • Continuing with former Office Initiative projects, such as whiteboard reels, where we take a picture of the whiteboard approximately every few days to document it's progression throughout the term
  • Began creating and drafting internship guide in collaboration with the Event Coordinators for the CSC Co-op Bootcamp
  • Planned out CSC involvement for the WUSA Clubs & Societies Day and MathSoc Clubs Day

September 9, 2023

  • Onboarded 4 new members with 3 returning members
  • Reorganized the former Office Initiatives and Internship Repo teams to be Engagement and Internship respectively
    • Engagement handles all engagement; not exclusive to just the office anymore
    • Internship expands upon internship repo by creating resources for current/future co-op students
