Office Terminals

  • keeping gwem (Ryzen 3700X) and natural-flavor (6700K), donating/decommissioning everything else (all Skylake Pentiums)
  • set up 2 NUCs and 1 Mac Mini as replacements. for now place docks on the empty desks
  • in the trash box:
    • X99: buy a CPU for that. still a decent platform
    • HDDs (still sealed): add to hfcs as scratch disks
    • HDDs (pulled out from servers): donate to CS350 prof as a real disk example they can disassemble
    • Keyboards: keep Apple and IBM ones, donate/throw out unicomp ones

CSC GPG Key

  • create a shared private key for package signing
    • Leo: create the key
  • add it to all the machines so they accept it when doing apt

  • make a release with the new key mentioned above

Mail

  • FASS is moving away from our mailing system as intended
    • due to IST regulations we are not supposed to host mail for other clubs now
  • office group for general membership inquires - TBD
    • change info: send membership inquires to membership@csclub.uwaterloo.ca (forwarded to office@csclub.uwaterloo.ca)
    • raymo: teach office staff how to use the mailing system
  • syscom mailing list moderation
    • ping next people on each termcom meeting
    • edwin: mod for next two weeks

CSClub Cloud

  • renewing the certs for csclub.cloud
    • certs are issued but not yet installed on the nginx servers
    • Justin: install the new certs on nginx
  • port forwarding
    • 50000-60000
    • Leo: send a request to IST

Mirror

  • mirror-checker-ng: Nathan. how's it going?
    • raymo: Nathan is AFK. ask after the meeting
  • archive dead projects
    • damnsmalllinux and puppylinux
    • saltstack: changed sync method so we can't sync from them anymore?
    • eclipse is doing weird stuff on their side. nothing we can do for now
  • backup mirror
    • CSCF is supposed to set it up in the IST server room in the basement of MC but apparently not yet
    • Leo: ask CSCF about the situation
    • in the mean time, configure reverse proxy (with nginx?) as our emergency backup mirror setup
  • CSCF: upgrade parts
    • Leo: ask about them

webcom collaboration

  • invite Amy and Shahan to termcom meeting next time?
  • log collection, visualization and warning for membership renewal
    • work with webcom to know their log file's location and format (so we can parse it with Loki)
  • transition the librarian database to MySQL/PostgreSQL
    • they are not working on webrarian this term but we can prepare for that to happen
